Hello everyone! After a long break we are finally back! A lot happened during these last weeks that kept us away from blogging. The most exciting and most important thing that happened was the……we got married! The two “S” from the “SnS” are now typically one! But now we are back for good!
So today I wanted to share with you a card (actually a couple of cards) that I made a while back but I never had the chance to upload it. We wanted a card for some friends that were starting up a new business. So we thought that a dreamcatcher would be appropriate and inspiring!
First I went through our stash to decide on the colour pallette. I find that very useful because it helps me decide wich way I will go with the card. So I lay out my papers and my ink pads to find the perfect combination.
The background
So for the first card I decided to play with purples and lilacs. I used a white card base and I created an interesting background by combining a solid and a pattern paper. This technique is great if you want to create two cards at the same time.
The focal point and the sentiment
I had on hand this beautiful dreamcathcher that I’ve purchased from AliExpress a while back and I didn’t have the chance to use it so far. I wanted for the dreamcatcher to be bulk and draw all the attention. In order to achieve that, instead of cutting out of plain cardstock, I cutted out of white fun foam. I was a little worried if it would cut easily through my Sizzix but it was no problem. If your fun foam is to thick just remove plate A and you will have the same result. Then in order to match perfectly with my background I swiped the feathers with the ink pads. This technique gives a beautiful result as if the feathers were dipped into paint. To make sure that the dreamcatcher stays in place it is better to use liquid glue. Also to make it little more interesting I added a vellum circle at the back.
For the sentiment I used the same solid cardstock that is in the background. I just heat embossed the sentiment with WoW Embossing Powder in Opaque Bright White. I love this powder because it is exactly was it says : opaque and bright!
For a final touch I just added some gemstones on the string of the feathers…and the cards are ready! What do you think? I also make a couple more using a green colour palette. Which one do you like better?
Thank you all for stopping by! If you liked the cards please leave us a comment below! We hope to see you soon on our next post! Until then….happy crafting!
