This Sunday is a very important day to all of us! It is Father’s Day! According to Wikipedia “Father’s Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society.” To us a father is someone you can rely to, ask for advice, share your happiness and sorrow and look up to no matter how old you grow! So this Sunday we will of course grab the opportunity to tell our dads how much will love them and appreciate having them in our lives! And what a better way to express our thoughts and feelings than a car especially made for them!
The background
I have this new stamp set from Scrapberry’s , which is called SEASIDE and I will use it to create my own pattern paper. So I stamp randomly on watercolour paper four of the beautiful stamps and to create a nautical themed pattern. I plan to watercolour the images so I use Archival Ink (Jet Black) to make sure that nothing will smudge or smear.
When I’m Happy with the result I start colouring the images. Since I am going for a nautical theme I will use the classic red/blue/white combination. I will use a combination of colouring medias in order to achieve a more interesting result. For the parts that I want to stand out a bit more (such as the little fish) I will use my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. And I will do just a little bit of shading using a water-brush. I will follow the same technique for the rest of the stamps but this time I will use my watercolour pencils for a softer look.
The focal point
For the focal point I’m using the larger stamp of the set to make a boat. Again on watercolour paper and with archival ink since I’m planning to watercolour it too. To colour the boat I will use my Zig Real Brush Pens again because I want an intense look for my focal point. For the sky I will colour with a coloured pencil and a very light hand and then make it even softer using my water brush. I die-cut it using my circle dies and the focal point is ready!
The Sentiment
I don’t have a sentiment that would suit this card so I will make my own. I will use my Alphabet-Dies to spell the word DAD. Then I will my Dovecraft Alphabet Stamp Set to write “YOU ARE LIKE”. Finally I will stamp the sentiment from the Seaside stamp set which says “THE SEA…INFINITELY PERFECT”. So my sentiment is “Dad you are like the sea…infinetely perfect” which exactly what I wanted for this father’s day card!
Now all I need is to put everything together and my card is ready! So this Sunday just spent some time with your dad’s! That is the best and more valuable gift you can give them! And remember if you want to tell them a few words of love…just say with a card! Happy father’s Day everyone!
Thank you all for stopping by! If you liked the cards please leave us a comment below! We hope to see you soon on our next post! Until then….happy crafting!
